Creative Recreation is a label which features a variety of trendy and fashion-forward footwear. Creative Recreation is all about “originality and imagination, a refreshment of one’s mind or body through activity that amuses and stimulates play.”
The brand was conceptualized in the fall of 2002. Two long-time friends, Rich Cofinco and Robert Nand, both established their names in the footwear industry (both met while working for sneaker titan Vans), wanted to fill a void in the market. They noticed that many men’s shoe brands out there were offering either dress shoes or athletic-inspired sneakers which do not fit most situations in each and everyone’s life. Thus, the two men created Creative Recreation, with the goal to provide young professionals stylish yet functional footwear.
Visionaries Cofinco and Nand did what they did best - making shoes they themselves wanted to wear. The duo aimed to fuse the best of both worlds by using high-end materials from formal footwear but making it comfortable like that of an athletic sneaker. With that, the unique footwear that is Creative Recreation was born.
Because of the company’s mix between formal and athetic footwear Creative Recreation is hard to stratify. However, Confinco and Nand had this to say: “We don’t want to be put into any category, were a footwear company! We make shoes for our lifestyle, rather we make shoes for life with style”.
Creative Recreation is famous for its wide variety of shoes, as chronicled in their Summer and Spring 2009 collections. For Summer 2009’s Prime collection, Creative Recreation boasts of the Cesario, Cesario Lo, Dicoco, Dicoco Lo, and Massino shoes.

As for the women’s collection, Creative Recreation has created vibrant shades for the Galow, Galow Hi, Cesario, Cesario Lo, Dicoco, and Miranda shoes. The Youth and Toddler collection also features the trademark Cesario and Cesario Lo models.
The label’s sophisticated yet comfy style has been featured in countless magazines, including V, In Touch Weekly, Complex, Guys, Details, Maxim, Star, Vanity Fair, Cosmogirl, Front, Holt, FHM, Vogue, Seventeen, and Sportswear International.
