Conceptualized in 2004, Bonafide Icon was presented in 2005, with Bryant Yarborough, Larry Robinson and David Dhanpat. Larry Robinson is known to be responsible for the sales, marketing, promotion and for the concepts of the designs. David Dhanpat on the other hand, deals with almost all parts of Bonafide Icon. With both graphic design and originality, Bonafide Icon moves to express their ideas and thoughts onto their clothes. The name “Bonafide Icon” means the ability to be recognized and held in honor among the elites. The brand stems from the different elements of the New York lifestyle. With this, Bonafide Icon’s hard work results in the mixture of innovative, dynamic concepts and creative graphics.

Like most other clothing lines, Bonafide Icon also comes from the inspiration of music.
