The year 1996 saw the first release of the Nike Air Rift. This footwear, which is more of a sneaker / sandal hybrid, promotes natural foot motion. It comes with a split-toe design and a stretched fit. It was not heavily marketed in 1996, as it comes in a slightly odd package. Now, it is being re-launched in time for the summer, with all its glory intact. The shoe design was inspired by the barefoot running style of the very accomplished distance runners from Kenya. Because of their dominance in such a sport, Nike decided to honor not just their team’s colors, but also the way their distinct running style. One of the most prominent features of this shoe is the decoupled toe design, which allows for air circulation between the first and second toes of the wearer. It also comes with the patented Great Rift Valley fault line design. The new set of Nike Air Rift in the original colorways will be made available on April 27, 2015 at selected Nike Sportswear retailer worldwide. New colorways will be available by May 15.
