Last week, Iconix hosted a Rocawear lookbook preview soiree for the women’s 2010 fall line. The event was held at a swanky venue on Park Avenue South, in New York City. Rocawear describes this collection as:
Rocawear’s fall 2010 collection is all about being a part of the “BAD GIRLS CLUB”. Whether the outlaw or Queen, this girl is focused on proving a point. Her appeal is feminine yet edgy; she loves lethal studs, ball chains, mesh and symbolic silver metals with a military aesthetic.
She appreciates the art of Graffiti, slashed tees, body- con dresses, and bold colors that gives her a positive energy. Brilliant blues and purples encourage fantasy, mystery and imagination, while red symbolizes POWER, all in which she uses to take her bad girl status to the next level. This Rocawear girl likes to play the game and win!
The bad girl club theme is conspicuous in the details of the accessories and footwear, with the placement of studs and buckles. Some of the boots featured in the 2010 fall collection are also made from some non-traditional materials, such as neoprene. Rocawear even included snakeskin patterns on a few of the pieces.
The leopard print on the handbag below is perfectly complemented with the placement of extraneous zippers, topped off with a chain.
The outerwear displayed from this collection was a great balance of street ready vs. feminine. On one had, the material and colors say “don’t mess with me.” But, the short torso, tapering and extended figure-flattering gauntlets say “I’m a lady.”
