It is fashion week in New York City and Bryant Park has been transformed into a giant tent city. Fashionistas designers and press abound.
Although the bulk of the action is occurring in mid-town, New York City Fashion Week is not limited to the events in Bryant Park. The Live Mechanics crew held their fashion week kick-off event at the Hotel on Rivington, located in the lower east side of Manhattan on Wednesday February 10th. The top couple of floor of this swanky venue holds an event space that was transformed into a Live Mechanics runway show.
The day of the event, New York City received over 12 inches of snow. The storm lasted all day long and most of the businesses in the City were closed. Despite the awful weather, and all of the pandemonium surrounding it, Live Mechanics had an exceptional turnout for the event.
This event marks the first runway show that Live Mechanics has put on in New York City. Live Mechanics teamed up with a group called “Building Young Minds” as a part of this event. Building Young Minds, is a charity organization that gives young individuals opportunities to have some hands on experience in various industries, surrounding the art community. The individuals chosen by Building Young Minds, are students who would most likely not have the means to learn about the industry side of fashion, art of music, on their own.
After introductions and red carpet, DJ Peter Paul started spinning, and the runway show was underway.
As usual, the designers at Live Mechanics brought their A-game. The runway show featured a great mix of casual, and slightly dressier looks for their fall 2010 collection. Browse the gallery below to view the featured looks (all photos by: Jacob Breinholt)
