AKOO, an acronym for “A King Of Oneself”, is the brainchild of hip-hop artist TI. The brand was founded by TI and his business partner and Grand Hustle Entertainment CEO, Jason Geter. This week, NBC’s Today Show Style Guide Contributor Bobbie Thomas hosted an event in New York City called the 2009 Holiday Lookbook at The Gallery at Metropolitan Pavilion. AKOO billed the event using the following description:
Named one of the “10 Most Stylish Men in America” by GQ Magazine, who better to take style advice from then the man who’s graced the covers ranging from Billboard to Giant Magazine. “The AKOO man is an individual who regards fashion as a compliment to his strong personality,” says AKOO Head designer Ralph Reynolds. Must haves from the Fall/Holiday ’09 collection include staples such as Pea and Sport Coats in herringbone and hounds tooth, hooded cardigans which play on the idea of the traditional grandfather sweater, custom denim, chucky wool sweaters and classic rugby shirts and jackets.
The items in the Lookbook display were designed as a smart mix of the popular outdoors Americana fall styling, invoking classic collegiate lettering, crests, colors and lines.

Here’s Tip, the man himself sporting some AKOO. TI knows how to stand behind his brand!
