Dwyane Wade to Debut Fashion Line at New York Fashion Week

Finally, Dwyane Wade’s fashion collection is on the way!

According to a press release for the upcoming collection, basketball star Dwyane Wade is gearing up to launch his own fashion line, which will premiere at the New York Fashion Week in February next year.

Dubbed WADE, the collection is a collaborative effort between Chinese  sportswear company Li-Ning and Wade himself. The Miami heat baller tapped shoe designer Alejandro Ingelmo, who is renowned for his modern and futuristic designs, as the label’s first Creative Consultant for Special Projects. Wade said in a statement:

“I’ve been a fan of AI for a long tie now and from the moment I partnered with Li-Ning I’ve been excited to bring him into our design team. Alejandro’s knowledge of mixing fashion and street elements into his designs mirrors my personal style and the vision for the footwear we will bring to the market.”

Expectedly, the first project under the brand will be a “lifestyle/basketball cultural sneaker.”

With the first look at the collection described as having a “lux feel,” it looks like Wade is taking his new brand super-seriously. He told GQ magazine:

“I’m on a team with LeBron James and Chris Bosh, and they both dress well. It gets competitive. If I don’t bring my A game, they’re going to outshine me.”

What do you think of D-Wade venturing into fashion? Spill!
