Derrick Rose fans gathered together as adidas revealed the D Rose 3 signature basketball shoe, apparel collection, and a new logo. Rose told the press that he worked really closely with adidas throughout the creative process.
“The D Rose 3 signature collection is special to me because I worked side-by-side with adidas on everything from materials to fit to colors to make it the best we’ve done yet. I love the new logo that calls out the most important things to me: my family, basketball, and the city of Chicago.”
Rose’s unique and understated style is represented by the colors, materials, and textures in the D Rose signature apparel collection. There’s also a homage to his Chicago hometown. The collection includes jackets, hoodies, tees, shorts, pants, hats, and socks that match each colorway of the shoe.
The D Rose 3 features an all-new silhouette that uses synthetic and nubuck leather for a stylish and streamlined off-court look. The shoes give Rose’s fans a glimpse of his background by including an illustration of his family tree and the landmark of 73rd and Paulina in the Englewood neighborhood where Rose grew up.
The new D Rose logo features three petals that surround the letter “D” and number “1” in the center, which has a twofold meaning. Each petal represents Rose’s creative drives to the basket as a result of his training on the courts of Murray Park in Englewood, Chicago. The petals also pay homage to his family, symbolizing his three brothers Reggie, Allan, and Dwayne with his mother, Brenda, in the center of the rose. They were the people who guided him from Englewood to his NBA-star status.
Lawrence Norman, VP of adidas Global Basketball, stated:
“The D Rose signature collection continues our mission to work closely with Derrick to create the best performing products in the world that are built specifically for his electrifying style of play. Launching the new D Rose logo is a historic moment for our partnership. The premium and personal style and high performance elements of this collection represent the future of our product direction with Derrick Rose.”
