After months of speculations, there is finally some clarity on Randy Jackson’s fate on American Idol. After the departure of his former judging partners, Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler, Randy Jackson was rumored to be staying behind at American Idol, not as a judge, but as a mentor for the contestants.
However, sources close to Idol told TMZ that Jackson was merely considered to be staying on the show and was intended to have the mentoring role just because he’s the glue that helps keep the show together. In the end, Jackson left anyway, leaving the producers with Nicki Minaj (who, by the way, is rumored to have almost signed the contract, even though Mariah Carey isn’t a fan of hers).
And what about judge #4?
It looks like the producers are still on the hunt. Pharrell, Diddy, Kanye West … all sorts of big names are running through the rumor mill, including the addition of Keith Urban (as we mentioned before). Who will land the position? We’ll have to wait and see, but if it was up to you, who would you choose to fill the role? Share it with us!
