Actor and human rights activist, George Clooney has been arrested just minutes ago in Washington, D.C. during a protest over the crisis in Sudan.
The actor was the leader of the protest held in front of the Sudanese embassy. Not long after, Clooney was taken away by secret service agents. TMZ reported that Clooney actually feels good about being arrested because now the spotlight is really on the crisis.
Clooney was not the only one arrested among the crowd, there are also about a dozen people taken in by the authorities, including fellow human rights activists, Sudanese citizens in Washington D.C. who participated in the protest, congressmen and even Clooney’s father, Nick Clooney.
Stan Rosenfield, Clooney’s publicist told TMZ:
“They were protesting the violence committed by the government of Sudan on its own innocent men, women and children. They were demanding they allow humanitarian aid into the country before it becomes the largest humanitarian crisis in the world.”
George Clooney is especially concerned about the Sudan crisis and recently testified before Congress about the violence happening in the country.
