Think Oprah has fallen financially due to her lack of appearance on TV? Not according to Forbes. The magazine, popular for its lists on the richest people on earth, just came out with a new list: The Forbes Top Ten Highest-Earning Women in Entertainment. The list was compiled between May 2010 and May 2011, and it lists the Queen of Talk shows at number one, followed by Lady Gaga. Here’s the full list. (Find out who made 2011’s Top 5 Wealthiest Hip Hop Stars.)
1. Oprah Winfrey
We seriously think Oprah has to write a book entitled How to Get $290 Million and Enjoy Retirement. Still waiting for what’s next from Oprah? Us too.
2. Lady Gaga
The singer managed to shoot through the list and land at number two with a cool $90 million. With notable performances like this year’s MTV Music Awards, she might join Oprah at number one next year.
3. Bethenny Frankel
The show personality, author, entrepreneur and natural foods chef has been raking in major dough since her Real Housewives of New York City days. At number 3 on the list, Frankel’s wealth is recorded to reach $55 million. This doesn’t surprise us since her creation, “Skinnygirl” brand, was sold this year for $120 million.
4. Gisele Bundchen
The beautiful supermodel made $45 million, making her about $10 million richer than Beyonce Knowles. We’re surprised!
5. Taylor Swift
The girl who was once interrupted by rapper Kanye West can probably laugh about it now because this year she is also on the list with $45 million… uninterrupted.
6. Ellen DeGeneres
When you make people happy, you’ll also be happy. Ellen Degeneres is surely making America happy with her humor, therefore karma is kind and gives her $45 million.
7. Judge Judy Sheindlin
If you know Judge Judy, you’ll know why she also raked in $45 million and made the Forbes list. Her court room show has been America’s must-watch TV since 1996.
8. Katy Perry
Katy Perry’s $44 million puts her slightly below the four ladies, but the popstar is also sitting pretty on top of Beyonce. Why is this such an issue to us? Because…
9. Beyonce Knowles
…she’s supposed to be one of the richest singers in the US! Married to rapper/mogul Jay-Z, we expected Bey to rise to the financial game and earn more than $35 million. However, the glowing mother-to-be is probably slowing things down a bit due to her pregnancy. And we’ll still love her no matter what!
10. Danielle Steel
Lastly, with the an equal amount of earnings to Beyonce’s $35 million, romance novelist Danielle Steel closes the top 10 Highest-Earning Women in Entertainment list.
So ladies, have you decided to finally pursue your dreams? You know, so we can see your name on one of these lists in the future?
