Streetwear Spotlight: Fight-R-Flight Clothing + GIVEAWAY!

Still looking for the freshest in the streetwear game? How about a brand that has just started its venture in December 2010? Meet Fight-R-Flight, and dig out how it finally came to life. talked to the founder and co-CEO, Trey Carmine.

Introduce yourself and describe how your brand was started?
My name is Trey Carmine, founder and co-CEO of Fight-R-Flight Clothing (FRF). My brand didn’t start until December 2010 but before that I fooled around with the idea of starting my own clothing line. I realized quickly that it takes a lot of research to become established and I went through many ideas and platforms before I settled on my vision I have now. I got tired of seeing the same thing done over and over again with no progression. And you know what they say, if you want something done you have to do it yourself. I don’t do this for myself or for the money involved, I do this so people don’t have to be stuck to the same thing everyday. We will over throw the masses with our influence. Our slogan is simple “New Dreams, New Problems, New Solutions.” And the biggest thing is for us to live by that. And not just us, also the artist/athletes we sponsor. One thing I love is helping others accomplish their dreams as well.

Describe this season’s theme for your line. Include any sources of inspiration (examples: 80’s punk, muses like Amber Rose, 70’s disco bands, Kanye, etc)
For our Inaugural release the most important thing for us was to impress. The underground hip-hop, skate, and vintage cultures inspire our theme. Being from Virginia there’s a lot of people to be inspired from in the fashion industry with Pharrell and BBC or The Clipse with Play Clothes. We try to stay true to ourselves and always be innovative and bring new stuff to the game.

Any product placements on celebs to keep an eye out for (examples: publicity photos, magazines, movies, music videos etc)
We work with a lot of underground artist because we like to find the emerging talent and help them reach their dreams. We have hip-hop artist such as Big Glenn, SBG, and Troy “Kaddi” Cook. Kaddi has two of his songs featured on our page and we’re helping him release a mix tape very soon remember his name. We also have a band, Sounds like November who we’re also in the process of sponsoring. We’re are currently working with an amateur body builder as well who is going for his pro card in March on ESPN 3.

What has been a surprise fashion hit over the last year? (a particular piece, a look or even another brand)
Snapback hats and vintage clothes were definitely a surprise to me.

What current fashion trend would you like to see thrown overboard?
The shinny shirts, they really look like reflective vest the senior citizens wear on their bikes at night.

What is/was one of your most prized fashion pieces, past or present?
No doubt my jersey collection I had back in high school, we’re talking like 2004 so it’s a way back. No body had me beat with the Mike Vick Va. Tech jersey.

TuPac or Biggie?
Both of them there’s no reason to pick between two legends when you can’t go wrong either way.

Visit Fight-R-Flight Clothing’s website and check its collection. The ladies collection will be available this coming March, but there’s a sneak preview. Check them out.
