Streetwear Spotlight: Riejunio Apparel + GIVEAWAY!

There’s no such thing as being too late to start your own clothing line.  Harie L. Robinson Jr founded his streetwear line: Riejunio Apparel, when he already had a stable job and a secure position in a company everyone wants to work for. What did he do to finally launch Riejunio Apparel?  Check’s interview with Harie.

Introduce yourself and describe how your brand was started?
Hello family my name is Harie L. Robinson Jr Founder of Riejunio Apparel. Riejunio was started based off of 3 important factors.

* My mom (Georgia Robinson) kept me in all the latest trends and fashions while I was growing up in the 80’s and 90’s.The brands that I wore while growing up inclideOriginal Jams Shorts, Cross Colours, Generra Men, Karl Kani, allNike styles, Escape, Jordan, etc Mom had good taste in clothes so we can say that my love for fashion and Riejunio took root from that point.
* I worked with Macy’s for 7+ years both at store and corporate level. I held the Regional Price Accuracy Auditor position at Macy’s South, which helped me get a better understanding of pricing from the WHOLESALE perspective. Once I saw what fashion merchandise was actually purchased for at wholesale prices, I thought myself “WOW! I can definitely do this!”
* The two factors listed above birthed the brand of Riejunio. Riejunio was created from my birth name Harie Robinson Junior. If you take the last 3 letters in my first name Rie and take Junio from Junior you have Riejunio. The meaning of Riejunio is “The Renaissance of Art & Fashion” (A multicultural movement of Art & Fashion).

Describe this season’s theme for your line. Include any sources of inspiration (examples: 80’s punk, muses like Amber Rose, 70’s disco bands, Kanye, etc)
The theme for Riejunio every season is based off of European cuts and tailored fits. I draw inspiration from designers like Ozwald Boateng, Christian Audigier and Roberto Cavalli. Riejunio will always stay true to European cuts and tailor fits with an urban edge. The way garments fit each individual is very important to Riejunio – from sampling phase to the final buyer’s prototype.

What has been a surprise fashion hit over the last year? (a particular piece, a look or even another brand)
Skinny jeans for men. I know it’s a hot trend for the young pop-punk-skateboard generations, but I’m seeing hardcore “gangsta” dudes forcing the skinny jeans on. That’s very surprising!!! And funny as hell!!! LMAO!!

What current fashion trend would you like to see thrown overboard?
I must say I’m pretty open to all fashion trends and at this point it appears that most trends are either back to the BASICS or heading back to BASICS. We shall see.Check back with me.

What is/was one of your most prized fashion pieces, past or present?
The Custom Riejunio Sport coat we did for Drumma Boy’s reality show “Welcome to Dreamland” that aired on BET, CENTRIC TV and Peachtree TV locally here in Atlanta.

TuPac or Biggie?
WOW! Why did you have to go here 🙂 ??? If we remove the beef and violence that removed these blessed lyricist from this world how would the Hip-Hop game be currently?? What would the Hip Hop game be currently without the legacy of these blessed lyricists? Not enough time for me elaborate on the subject. My pick is Tupac no disrespect to Biggie at all. The amount of content and lyrical heat this young man had in his arsenal was enough to track down Bin Laden from LA. So much content and music was released after his passing. Drumma Boy said it best, “Tupac really didn’t have to have strong beats because of his delivery and lyrical content” and I agree. I miss both of those blessed artist.I was just listening to Everyday Struggle by Biggie and now it’s back in rotation on my iPod.
