Streetwear Spotlight: Young & Reckless + Giveaway!

The young are usually reckless, but they keep their style on deck. To accommodate the style needs of these young’uns, Drama Beats came up with a streetwear line called Young & Reckless, and is loving it. Get to know the young brand better before they take over the world.

Introduce yourself and describe how your brand was started?
I’m Drama A.k.a. Drama Beats a.k.a. Mr. Beats. A.k.a. Mr. Young & Reckless. My brand was started about a year and a half ago. What really motivated me was being from Ohio and moving to LA and seeing that there was no brands available to the mainstream that had that cool “streetwear” sort of vibe. I’ve always been interested In starting a brand so really, with the show and all of my outlets to promote I just realized that there was no time like right now and went for it.

Describe this season’s theme for your line. Include any sources of inspiration (examples: 80’s punk, muses like Amber Rose, 70’s disco bands, Run DMC, etc)
My inspiration will always be the Young & Reckless lifestyle. I always use a lot of pop colors and cool artwork. For right now, my line is pretty much T’s hoodies and hats so I’m not going to deep into it yet. Its important to me to solidify my vibe with the basics first. Then you’ll see some real cool stuff as the line progresses.

Any product placements on celebs to keep an eye out for (examples: publicity photos, magazines, movies, music videos etc)
Man to be honest we are all over the map right now. I don’t want to lock it down as a brand for a certain type of person so I keep it pretty broad as far as who I give product to. We’ve had anyone from Kevin Durant to Justin Bieber. Also, we got a real good look in Eminems new video for “no love”

What has been a surprise fashion hit for you over the last year?
Like I said before right now we’re pretty much just working with T’s hoodies and hats, so there’s not much room for surprise just yet.

What apparel trends are you really feeling this year? What fashion trend would you like to see thrown overboard?
I’m really backing denim jackets and I’m always a fab of the military trend that really hot right now. I’m pretty open minded to trends. If people choose to go out looking like a goof then more power to them in my mind. At least ur original. But…..if I had to pick one ill say fedoras. I just can’t quite get over how weak those things are.

What is/was one of your own most prized fashion pieces, past or present?
I’d have to say my GStar leather jacket. Its soooo hard for me to find a good leather jacket. Between weird fits and too much flair its next to impossible for me. But I did find a sick one at GStar that I wear almost every day.

TuPac or Biggie?
Haha nice. I usually avoid this one. They’re are both such classics I hate to take away from one by choosing the other. But for the sake of the interview ill say 2pac. I just really respect how absolutely crazy he was. I really wish I was older during his time to really witness it first hand. Definitely the definition of Reckless.
