Streetwear Spotlight: MGOT Clothing + GIVEAWAY!

The last time SoJones came across MGOT Clothing was back at the 2009 MAGIC Tradeshow.  Its owner, Clevon Jones, gave us the details about his -then startup brand.  A year has passed and it’s now time to get to know MGOT Clothing a little bit better. Clevon Jones tells the story on how he plants his seeds of success and how fun reaping the results.

Introduce yourself and describe how your brand was started?
My name is Clevon Jones. I’m the owner and founder of MGOT Clothing: “MONEY GROWS ON TREES: not just a line, a dream come true”. The line started four years ago I always had a love for fashion from seeing the reign of brands like FUBU, KARL KANI,MECCA back when I was in seventh grade and I told myself I can do that too so I started drawing from then all the way up to when I graduated high school and jumped of the porch head first in the world of fashion. The name MGOT is something I feel we all have. We all have a money tree its like a dream or a goal, you work hard, tend to it, stay loyal, it grows and grows than eventually every day is FALL lol.

Describe this season’s theme for your line. Include any sources of inspiration (examples: 80’s punk, muses like Amber Rose, 70’s disco bands, Run DMC, etc)
It’s really just showing people who I am by expressing it through my shirts and telling everyone that hard work does pay off no theme just doing me.

Any product placements on celebs to keep an eye out for (examples: publicity photos, magazines, movies, music videos etc)
Right now we are setting to release the collab t-shirt with porn star Kiera King, as well as getting shirts to some NFL players and others, so be on the look out.

What has been a surprise fashion hit for you over the last year?
Seeing people support each other and do collabs not in the sense to make money, but for the fact that they both have a real love for what they do.

What apparel trends are you really feeling this year?
All it’s always great to see trends come and go, the ones that stay or come back.

What fashion trend would you like to see thrown overboard?
Not really want to see it thrown overboard, but if you goin’ to wear skinny jeans, pull your pants up.

What is/was one of your own most prized fashion pieces, past or present?
My very first shirt I ever made. From there it all started and I haven’t look back since.

TuPac or Biggie?
Both. They both changed the game for hip hop and are still respected till this day for the music they put out so yeah I’m going with both ’cause it ain’t NOTHIN BUT A GANGSTA PARTY.

So if you love MGOT Clothing collection, here are some knock-out pieces from the line.  All available at for $20 up to $25.
