Actor Eddie Murphy is reportedly shopping a TV adaptation of the 1984 movie Beverly Hills Cop to broadcast networks this week, along with Sony Pictures Television and The Shield creator, Shawn Ryan. In the movie, Murphy starred as Axel Foley, a Detroit police detective working on a murder investigation in Beverly Hills, California. Beverly Hills Cop was so successful that two sequels followed in 1987 and 1994.
Murphy plans to do an appearance on the TV pilot if the show gets some TV time. The Beverly Hills Cop TV series format will be an hour-long crime/comedy series that will tell the story of Axel Foley’s son. Axel Foley is now Detroit’s Chief of Police.
We think some die-hard Eddie Murphy fans are going to squeal at the idea of seeing him back in action, but we also sense that this comeback might be pushing it a little too hard. Which team are you on?
