Platinum hip-hop artist and Grammy Award-winning Lil Wayne will be producing a new line of skater clothes come January 2012 called Trukfit. The skateboard-inspired threads will debut at the Agenda Trade Show in New York City, and is heavily streetwear influenced.
“The highly anticipated line of uniquely designed apparel was inspired by Lil Wayne’s passion for skateboarding and quality street wear,” wrote Trukfit’s press release. “Pulling influence from Lil Wayne’s distinctive style and voice, Trukfit is made from quality fabrics and features bold graphics at a moderate price point.”
On January 23 and 24, 2012, skaters the world over can ogle the funky clothes at the annual active street wear trade show, according to MTV.com. The show “highlights well-established clothing companies, and upstart lines looking to make an impact in the industry,” wrote MTV.
Originally, Lil Wayne had plans to launch a clothing line called “Rebirth” last July, although he switched gears and came up with Trukfit for January, wrote HipHopDX.com.
The 29-year-old hip-hop entrepreneur, who has already had a slammin’ 2011, is currently finishing off his overseas tour in South America with Drake and Australia with Eminem before returning to the States to premier his new clothing line.
According to HipHopBlog.com, “Wayne has not verbally confirmed the line, but reps say that the clothes will reflect the New Orleans native’s own unique style and persona.”
“I think that most people who come out of [prison] just want to make the most of life afterwards,” Weezy told Interview magazine last year, and it looks like he’s doing just that.
