Katy Lee, a seasoned veteran in the fashion biz, decided to leave her experiences at Marc by Marc Jacobs, DKNY, Vivienne Tam, and Heatherette behind to create her own line – Heartloom.
According to www.heartloom.com, the brand is “a lifestyle brand consisting of denim, and a wardrobe built around denim – quality jeans, denim novelty items such as rompers, shorts, tees, dresses, and outerwear. Everything that a girl needs to build a full wardrobe that is unique, playful and sexy.”
This romantic New York-based label was founded on Lee’s realization that there was a lack of clothing companies that suit her style and needs as a woman. As a fashion hotshot once based in sassy New York, Lee’s business meetings frequently took her to the west coast. Her usual stays at Los Angeles grew on her, and she grew a certain fondness for the laidback fashion innate to the east coast. She decided to fuse this style with the east coast’s fashion philosophy of sophisticated elegance.
The brand, after all, is a “casual, denim-friendly line, that offered unique detailing and originality without costing a fortune.” True enough, the clothes (except its coats) range from $59-$199.
Besides her vast experiences in fashion, her know-how in graphic design (just one of her two majors at the esteemed Rhode Island School of Design) helped her catapult her line to stardom.
