It’s been a decade since Travis Barker founded his clothing line: “Famous Stars and Straps“.  The Blink 182 drummer penetrated the skaters market and successfully maintained their existence by dressing up some of the world’s most famous celebrities.  For a decade, Famous Stars and Straps have made a huge crossover from a clothing line only popular in the rock community, into a brand accepted by a much wider audience, including hip hop fans.  Aside from its respected place in the urban clothing scene,  skaters are no strangers to Famous Stars and Straps as the brand also houses some of the hottest skateboard, BMX and motorcycle stunt teams, who are known as members of the FSAS Family.

For its 10th anniversary, celebrity fans of the brand spoke up, reminisce and give props to the brand, and the lineup includes Lil’ Jon, Paul Wall, artist Estevan Oriol, Alchemist and Blink 182’s Mark Hoppus himself.

Lil’ Jon loves the brand because it has its own flavor.  He doesn’t even remember how it all started, he just felt like family to Famous Stars and Straps from way back in 2000 when he was ready to go on a major label.  As he says, there’s a lot of rock, pop and hip hop culture within the brand that made him what he is today.

Paul Wall confirmed the brand’s well-received crossover action as he stated, “This is not a brand that matches a certain type or person or a clique. It’s something that I see all people wear. White folks, black folks, rich people, people who are in rap music, or in the punk.  Everybody.”

Kid Cudi reminisce his “under the underground days” in Ohio, when Famous Stars and Straps was the number one brand among Ohio’s youth, which was apparently hard to get in 1999.  Famous was in fact, the first brand that reached out to him and showed interest in his music, and that led Kid Cudi to start performing in some of Famous’ parties.  As they say, the rest is history.

The California-based company is set to release a special edition BMX to commemorate its one-decade anniversary.  Just a few days ago, the clothing line released a Ghetto Blaster music player, that resembled a ghetto boom box from the 80’s (now with iPod capabilities).  Famous Stars and Straps fans can get the new clothing, accessories and electronic collections at online urban retailer: DrJays.com.
