Cinema and fashion's most prominent stars recently headed to Lido di Venezia for the 2022 Venice Film Festival. As expected, there was an excess of glamour on the red carpet as they showed off their chic designer looks.

One of the trends we saw a lot of on the carpet? Sheer gowns! Florence Pugh stepped out wearing a voluminous, off-the-shoulder number with a waist-high slit, while Jodie Turner-Smith rocked a sparkling dress that wasn’t just see-through but dangerously low-cut as well.

See their looks, plus more, below.

Florence Pugh

The British actress was on hand for the premiere of her film, Don’t Worry Darling, wearing a black Valentino Couture gown with confetti detailing and feather-embellished pumps from the same brand.

She shared this carousel post on her Instagram, describing how powerful Valentino dresses made her feel. “I felt strong. Proud. Sexy. Glamorous…free. Thank you for all of those who helped make it, worked on it, sewed every last sequin into their perfect pretty positions. I give you a round of applause,” she wrote.

Jodie Turner-Smith

The British actress opted for a custom Gucci gown with crystal embroidery and a velvet hem, which she styled with green opera gloves when she attended the premiere of her film, White Noise.

Talking to Vogue about the look, she said, “I really wanted to play with a silhouette that felt unique…I also really wanted the colors to reflect the pan-African flag—red, black, and green— as a perfect statement about my pride in the African diaspora.”

Tessa Thompson And Julianne Moore

Tessa Thompson headed to the premiere of Blonde wearing a sexy black fishnet gown with an attached hood, along with Pomellato jewels. The dress is from Interior’s Fall 2022 collection.

Julianne Moore, meanwhile, went the superhero-glam route for the opening ceremony in a fireworks-themed gown and cape combo from Valentino’s Resort 2023 collection. The 61-year-old Hunger Games actress stunned us with her ageless beauty!

Mia Goth And Raffey Cassidy

Mia Goth hit the Venice red carpet for the premiere of her film, Pearl, wearing a Dolce & Gabbana Alta Moda gown in black velvet with baroque cutouts. She accessorized with a pair of sheer gloves to amp up the goth-glam vibe.

Raffey Cassidy jumped on the naked-dress trend in a cream-colored mini dress by Valentino, featuring a crystal-adorned bodice and feathered skirt, which she styled with coordinating opera gloves, fishnet tights, and metallic heels.
