No matter if he gets any award for this or not, 50 cent- real name Curtis Jackson– showed a new meaning for the word ‘dedication’ with going from this:
50 cent has confirmed these pictures himself on his site thisis50.com, and I can’t say I’m surprised at Curtis doing this to himself; his drive to be on top in whatever he’s doing is admirable.
For the upcoming film in discussion today, “Things Fall Apart”, Jackson stars as a cancer patient. Along with dropping 54 pounds with nothing much more than a liquid diet and three hours-a-day on the treadmill walks for nine weeks, he also had to remove several of his once famous tattoos. Come to think of it, 50 cent was #1 on our list of most famous tattoos we put down a while ago!
Jackson is still on tour now, but had this to say about everything:
“It’s about a Heisman hopeful who could possibly be going to the league and everyone is assuming he’s gonna make it and then he’s hit with an illness,” 50 explained in an interview. “I had a friend of mine who actually experienced cancer and it’s what motivated me to write this screenplay. You don’t have to make everything personal, but that project was. That’s why I committed to playing a role where I lost 54 pounds. I had to discipline myself enough until I achieved it but… I got it.”
DJ personality Big Greg Buckie of Hot 102.7 recently snuck backstage to talk with ‘Fiddy’ about his album he’s working on, and his real reason behind doing this film. Watch that video here. Reader, is 50 cent still relevant to you? Was this weight loss a smart move for a film that’s going straight to DVD? Let’s hear your thoughts in the comments!
